The University of Newcastle, in partnership with Raytheon, is excited to offer a Defence Innovation Network (DIN) PhD Scholarship, in the field of artificial intelligence and machine vision.

The project objective is to achieve the highest possible frame rates from a static camera with accuracy and robust high resolution video (when tracking several targets of known shape and size).

This partnership with Raytheon provides a great opportunity for a PhD student to kick start their Defence research and development career with one of Australia’s leading defence technology companies.

Funding: $27,082 per annum (2018 rate) indexed annually. For a PhD candidate, the living allowance scholarship is for 3.5 years and the tuition fee scholarship is for four years. An additional $5,000 p.a. funding to top-up the baseline stipend and $12,000 to contribute to running costs is also available.

Supervisor: Associate Professor Stephan Chalup (Primary, UON) and Dr Shuba Kadambe (Raytheon)
