About the Industry Partner

The Industrial Sciences Group (ISG)  is an applied research company specializing in industrial maths and statistics for complex engineering
projects – in space, GPS positioning, mineral processing and transport.

Project Objective

This project aims to improve Space Domain Awareness by detecting unusual satellite behaviour and predicting which space assets may be targeted by these potential threats.

The intern will be involved in research into existing orbit propagators; implementation of orbit fitting software that uses orbit propagator; verification of fitted orbits against reference orbits; implementation of anomaly detection using satellite tracking data; implementation of forward prediction screening to detect collisions between known threats against known space assets.

Intern Skills

The intern must have experience with software development experience in C/C++ or similar, and knowledge of astrodynamics and/or orbit determination methodology. Experience in statistical methods is optional but highly recommended.

Application

Applications must be submitted to info@defenceinnovationnetwork.com by 13 November 2022 and should include additional documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Motivation Letter
  • Proof of Australian citizenship or permanent residence
(e.g. passport, birth certificate, citizenship or PR certificate)
