NSW Defence Innovation Network is calling for collaborative research proposals in the Remote Undersea surveillance STaR Shot theme. Through its Strategic Investment Initiative, DIN will invest $500,000 of research funding in developing a cutting-edge prototype for defence use.

Background

With the recent announcement of Remote Undersea Surveillance being a priority area for the Defence investment, the Defence Innovation Network (DIN) has established the Strategic Investment Initiative (SII).

The purpose of the SII is to enable multi-disciplinary research teams to produce innovative prototypes, create lasting links to the defence industry, catalyse commercialisation and additional R&D investment in NSW.

A key objective is to build capability in the State by funding collaborative research that will enable a prototype to be made within 12-18 months, suitable for a ‘demonstration’ of the new capability of the integrated system.

The Initiative is funded by the NSW Government and the Department of Defence through the Next Generation Technologies Fund.
