About the Company
DeepNeural AI is an Australian artificial intelligence and autonomous systems company developing sovereign AI capabilities for Defence, government and critical industries. The company specialises in edge AI, computer vision, machine learning and intelligent systems for complex operational environments, working with research organisations, Defence stakeholders and industry partners to translate advanced AI research into deployable technologies.
Project Objective
Modern Defence operations depend on radar and advanced sensing systems in complex, contested electromagnetic environments. MIRAGE HIVE will develop an AI-driven radar deception and electronic warfare simulation platform to investigate next-generation approaches for operating in these environments. The intern will explore machine learning techniques for modelling radar interactions, generating synthetic deceptive signatures, and analysing the effects of adaptive strategies on radar perception. The outcome will be a software-based prototype demonstrating AI-enabled radar scenario generation, deception modelling and performance evaluation — establishing the foundation for a sovereign Australian Defence capability in electromagnetic operations.
Project Tasks
- Weeks 1–4 (Research and design): Review radar signal processing, electronic warfare concepts and ML techniques; define system architecture and simulation requirements; identify suitable synthetic datasets and develop the initial modelling approach. Output: technical design document, research findings and selected AI methodologies.
- Weeks 5–9 (Prototype development): Implement software framework for synthetic radar environment modelling; develop AI algorithms for generating and analysing radar interaction scenarios; build core simulation and visualisation components. Output: functional prototype.
- Weeks 10–12 (Validation and pathway): Evaluate prototype performance; refine algorithms; demonstrate capability to stakeholders; identify future development opportunities. Output: demonstration prototype, technical report, evaluation results and MIRAGE HIVE development roadmap.
Intern Skills
- Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow); strong foundation in AI, machine learning and software development.
- Signal processing, radar systems, EW concepts, simulation environments or sensor data analysis — highly desirable.
- Curious, self-motivated and innovative; strong problem-solving; comfortable translating concepts into prototypes; communicates research outcomes clearly; passion for sovereign Australian Defence capability.
