Defence Innovation Network will invest $1 million to develop two cutting-edge prototypes in CBRN and underwater communication. The identified topics are selected in collaboration with Defence and industry partners and align with the Defence priorities.
The Strategic Investment Initiative aims to deliver prototypes within a 12-18 month timeframe, suitable for a ‘demonstration’ of the new capability of the integrated system.
The creation of such prototypes is expected to enable a more straightforward commercialisation pathway, draw attention and interest from Defence and other companies and facilitate significant domestic investment through, for example, the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator.
Project proposals should be scoped within the following topics:
- Automated Tasking of RAS teams for active modelling of CBRN threats
- Secure and Efficient UAV to Undersea System Communication with minimal risk exposure
Proposals must demonstrate multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaboration. Projects must be led by DIN University with substantive inputs from at minimum two DIN universities in total.
Project teams may include Australian businesses and non-DIN member university researchers.
All project participants must be citizens of the Five Eyes Alliance (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States) or NATO member countries.
Citizens of countries not covered by the named treaties are subject to approval by the DIN.
- Vision, Ambition & Innovation
- Leadership & Team Quality
- The commitment of collaborators.
The application form is available on request at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Applicants interested in participating in the call should contact DIN to register their interest, stating the topics of their interest and potential collaborators.
DIN will be able to connect interested parties with other potential team members on request.
Completed proposals must be submitted electronically by 5 pm, 15 September 2023, to email@example.com.
