The Defence Innovation Network (DIN) has awarded more than $190,000 of the Seed project grants to universities and the NSW industry as part of the NSW Government’s initiative to support defence innovation.
DIN Seed Project Funding Scheme allows innovative small-to-medium enterprises access to some of the best minds from across seven NSW universities to take their defence-related concepts to the next level.
Through the Defence Innovation Network, the NSW Government provides companies with matched funding to fast-track the development of early-stage technology concepts that can bring innovative solutions to Defence.
This funding provides the opportunity to build collaborations and develop groundbreaking research capabilities for NSW to ensure we remain the premier defence R&D state.
In December 2019, DIN supported these projects:
GNSS Situational Awareness at Sea, led by Solar Sailor Engineering & Distribution in collaboration with University of New South Wales;
Synthesising improved ultra-high temperature ceramics, led by Gravitas Technologies in collaboration with University of Wollongong;
Integrated Wide-FOV Optical Aerial Detection Network for Plan Jericho, led by SiNAB in collaboration with the University of Sydney;
Hyper Q Aerospace Hybrid Electric RPAS Virtual Swashplate, led by Hyper Q Aerospace in collaboration with University of Technology Sydney; and
Bio-inspired vibration-reduction for sensing and detection, led by Robotic Systems in collaboration with the University of Technology Sydney.
