The Defence Innovation Network (DIN) has awarded $700,000 in grants to universities as part of the NSW Government’s initiative to deliver world-class research capabilities and innovation to Australian Defence.
The Defence Innovation Network (DIN) brings together NSW industry, universities, State Government and DST Group to deliver world-class research capabilities and innovation to Australian defence. DIN has received support from the NSW Government to fund Pilot Projects with direct industry and defence focus.
Four research projects are being funded through the second round of the DIN Pilot Project Grant Scheme.
DIN Pilot Project grants allow DIN member universities to connect with industry and Defence to conduct a rapid feasibility study on new ideas for Defence and develop these ideas into concept or technology that can attract further investment.
Researchers were invited to address problem statements originated from the Australian Defence Force or defence industry. DIN received ten applications, and after careful deliberation six were selected to proceed to the next review stage. Of the six applications in Stage 2, the following four Pilot Projects were chosen to solve the problems sourced by Defence and the defence industry:
