The University of Sydney is leading a collaborative project with Western Sydney University, the University of New South Wales and Livestock Labs to develop a practical, real-time, prototype monitoring system to optimise the performance of Australian Defence Force Military Working Dogs (MWD).
This project will develop a practical, automated, robust system that integrates existing equipment to detect early indicators of impaired performance in MWD. Dog handlers will be able to make informed decisions about a dog’s work and rest periods and alert them to signs of injury and impending danger of exhaustion or heat injury.
