A collaborative research team led by the University of Sydney aims to develop and validate an integrated physiologically relevant artificial lung.
This bench-top platform will be used to unravel the fundamental characteristics of inhaled aerosol toxins and evaluate their toxicity profiles within different regions of the respiratory tract. It will simulate the inhalation of aerosol toxins in various test-set up conditions, including temperature, humidity, and concentrations, and directly observe their effects on their physico-chemical characteristics and aerosol performance, allowing for real-time analysis of toxin aerosols at the cellular level.
