Project Objective
To develop an AI-enabled maintenance support tool that enhances naval readiness by triaging alarms and delivering mission-critical guidance from control system documentation using synthetic data and natural language interaction.
Project Tasks
The intern will begin by reviewing synthetic naval control system data and maintenance documentation to understand alarm types and operational context. They will explore and implement algorithms to prioritise and classify alarms, followed by the development of a natural language interface for querying maintenance guidance. These components will be integrated into a prototype AI agent. The intern will test and validate the prototype in simulated maintenance scenarios, document the findings, and prepare a final project report and presentation for stakeholders..
Intern Skills
The ideal intern will be proficient in Python and familiar with AI/ML frameworks. They should have some experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and building agent-based systems. Strong skills in data analysis, especially those involving control systems or sensor data, are essential. Additionally, the intern should demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills to collaborate with technical teams and convey results clearly.
The ideal intern will have strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. They should demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to learn in a fast-paced, evolving Defence environment. A problem-solving mindset with keen attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently within project constraints.
