Defence Innovation Network will invest $1 million to develop two cutting-edge prototypes in CBRN and underwater communication. The identified topics are selected in collaboration with Defence and industry partners and align with the Defence priorities.
Background
The Strategic Investment Initiative aims to deliver prototypes within a 12-18 month timeframe, suitable for a ‘demonstration’ of the new capability of the integrated system.
The creation of such prototypes is expected to enable a more straightforward commercialisation pathway, draw attention and interest from Defence and other companies and facilitate significant domestic investment through, for example, the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator.

Project proposals should be scoped within the following topics:
- Automated Tasking of RAS teams for active modelling of CBRN threats
- Secure and Efficient UAV to Undersea System Communication with minimal risk exposure
