About the Company
The New South Wales Police Force is the primary law enforcement agency of the state of New South Wales, Australia. Divided into Police Area Commands (PACs), for metropolitan areas and Police Districts (PDs), for regional and country areas, the NSW Police Force consists of more than 400 Police stations and over 18,000 officers who are responsible for covering an area of 801,600 square kilometres and a population of more than 8.2 million people.
Project Objective
The project aims to investigate the application of language models in extracting intelligence from unstructured data and explore their effectiveness in policing practices.
- The primary objectives of this research are as follows:
Explore the potential of language models in extracting intelligence from unstructured data sources - Evaluate the performance of language models in policing practices
- Research on methods to improve the model outputs through fine-tuning or prompt engineering
- Identify the challenges and limitations of using language models for intelligence extraction
Intern Skills
- An understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP)
- Skills in data processing, cleaning, and transformation
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
- Familiarity with text mining-related tasks such as entity extraction, relation extraction, and sentence classification
